Fatal Fire at Baltimore Assisted Living Facility
The attorneys at Azrael, Franz, Schwab and Lipowitz are dedicated to protecting the rights of victims injured in catastrophic fires. Here, the fire law attorneys at AFSL provide information related to a deadly fire in Baltimore.
On Friday, March 3, 2017, fire fighters responded to a fire at the Kozy Kottage assisted living facility in northwest Baltimore. While the identities of the victims have not yet been released, fire officials reported that four residents remain in critical condition, and two have died as a result of the fire.
The assisted living facility housed 7 residents at the time of the fire. A Baltimore Sun report suggests that the home was “in good standing with the state health department’s Office of Health Care Quality, [meaning] it [was] licensed, up to date on its inspections and [had] a corrective plan of action for any problems identified,” at the time of the incident.
Even so, a full investigation into the fire is needed in order to determine the cause and whether those severely injured and killed were victims of negligence. If you or a loved one was injured or killed in this horrible and avoidable fire, please contact the fire and burn attorneys at AFSL to secure a full investigation of the facts.
