Deputy State Fire Marshals are conducting an origin investigation of an early morning mobile home fire that occurred in Rising Sun, MD on January 11, 2019, where one person has been pronounced deceased at the scene. An investigation is currently underway regarding who owns the property.

A 911 call was received at approximately 5:01 a.m. from an occupant who discovered the fire. Community Fire Company of Rising Sun were assisted by Firefighters from Cecil County and Pennsylvania to combat the two-alarm fire. It took 50 fire personnel approximately 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was extinguished, a deceased adult victim was located inside the severely destroyed structure.  The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to identify the victim and the cause of death.
