Azrael Franz’s Long-Standing Relationship with the Towson Chamber of Commerce

Azrael Franz is active in the communities it has served for more than 70 years.  During almost half that time, Azrael Franz has supported the Towson Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (the “Chamber”).

Towson Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber is a nonprofit business organization incorporated as the Towson Business Association, Inc. in 1964.  It has worked to assist businesses and professionals in Towson for over 50 years.   The Chambers’ more than 350 members strive to make Towson the best place to live, work and play.

The Chamber plays a vital role in Towson as its members’ voice with local government, the residential communities, Towson University and Goucher College, and nearby hospitals.  It also sponsors events that bring residents, students and workers to eat, shop and play in Towson.   These events include: Toast of the Town, the Towsontown Spring Festival, the Towson Farmers Market, “Feet on the Street” block parties, the 4th of July parade, Taste of Towson and Winterfest.

Azrael Franz’s Long-Standing Support

Azrael Franz joined the Chamber in 1985.  Besides financial support and sponsorships, Azrael Franz Partner, Paul Schwab, has assisted the Chamber on a pro bono basis with its legal needs in leasing offices, reviewing contracts for events, changing the corporation’s name and amending its bylaws.  Paul was instrumental in the Chamber’s acquisition of its building at 44 West Chesapeake Avenue.  He prepared and finalized the contract, easement and other documents needed for the purchase and reviewed and negotiated the deed of trust and other documents for the acquisition loan.

Paul served as the Chamber’s President in the 1990s and currently is a member of its Board of Directors and the Board’s Executive Committee. He also continues to legal guidance and services as needed by the Chamber.

Upcoming Chamber Events

Toast of the Town is the Chamber’s newest event.  It honors individuals, businesses and institutions that have made significant contributions in various areas to the Towson Community.  This year Toast will be held on March 7 at Stanley Black & Decker’s world headquarters in Towson.  Azrael Franz is pleased that the Baltimore County Public Library will be one of the honorees for its contributions to Towson and Baltimore County.

The Towsontown Spring Festival is the Chamber’s largest event.  It is held each year in downtown Towson the first weekend in May and offers entertainment at four musical stages, hundreds of arts and craft vendors from around the nation, and approximately 50 specialty food vendors.  With over 250,000 people attending the two-day event, it is one of the largest outdoor street festivals on the east coast.  This year, the Festival will be held May 2 – May 3.
